Numerous companies are now digitizing their current hard copy files through the digitization process due to its considerable cost savings. Alongside the freeing up of plant space, the ease in which digital copies can be seen and sent to various partners and clients and archived in fully updateable servers further promotes the process.

Our DDC Engineering Solutions team are available to offer a full digitization service, using a number of scanning methods dependent on the type of hard copy including paper, microfilm, radiograph and negatives into a full range of digital formats such as ‘.jpg’, ‘.dwg’, ‘.pdf’, ‘.tif’, and ‘.bmp’ files.

Digitizing a hard copy provides you with an electronic copy of the original allowing you to destroy original copies providing numerous benefits predominantly space saving. This is becoming increasingly popular amongst numerous companies as they choose to archive their drawings which would otherwise be sitting in cupboards and shelves taking up valuable space. As and when a document is required, you are then able to open and view or print to create a new hard copy. Obvious benefits include the availability of multiple users being able to send and view the electronic file.

Further benefits also include the ability to select and pick certain information off the original copy to provide a new digital file. A leading example of this is using original plans of a road, picking out the storm water drainage system and turning it into a ‘.dwg’ model of the roads drainage system providing a new relevant file.

The finalised digitized files can either be sent directly to the client, for them to store in their computers or alternatively, we can host them on our servers via our Web Based Document Management System providing 24 hours, secure online access
